  1. Produce by Sarah HolmesT

    Today's harvest from the allotment.

Broad beans, pak choi, khol rabi, blackcurrants and the last of the gooseberries.

Don't let it put you off if you only have a small space to grow in.  Many vegetables will grow well in borders or in containers.  Experiment - you have nothing to lose.  If you want any help or advice come along to the gardening club.

We will be restarting meetings again soon.

  2. I try to grow a few varieties of tomato each year just to try something different.  One of these this year is Bloody Butcher, just because the name made me laugh.

So far I've been quite impressed with these.  I planted the seeds on 8th March and had the first red tomato on 30th June.  This is a German heirloom variety and is one of the earliest varieties to set fruit.

I have got some plants growing in the greenhouse and have planted some outdoors.  Although we don't seem to be having a good summer at the moment a number of fruit have already set on the outdoor plants.

I'll let you know later in the season about the flavour!
