Bats

How lucky we are to live in Saughall.  Each night as dusk is approaching bats can be seen flying around at head height.

As gardeners there is a lot we can do to encourage them into the garden by growing plants which will attract moths and other night flying insects.

There is lots of information on the RHS website and also on the Bat Conservation Trust website so take a look.

Did you know that a bat can live for up to 30 years.

One great plant which is easy to grow as an annual is Nicotiana (the tobacco plant).  Emitting a strong fragrance in the evening they are excellent plants for attracting moths.
